Our Commitment

Each day, we collectively face environmental and social challenges that impact billions of people around the world. These complex problems require bold solutions.

Our mission is to make a difference in communities around the world by investing in transformative ideas and institutions that address some of our most pressing global challenges.

As the primary philanthropic arm of The Coca‑Cola Company, we have an equal hand in supporting the local and global changemakers leaving a measurable and lasting impact in areas around the world where the Company operates and where our employees live and work.

Since our inception, we have awarded more than $1.5 billion in grants to support initiatives around the world, and have recently refreshed our focus to specifically address sustainable access to water, a circular economy, climate resilience and disaster preparedness and response, economic empowerment, and causes impacting our hometown community.

Sustainable Access to Safe Water

The challenge: 2 billion people around the world lack safe drinking water.
Taking action: We advance solutions and innovations that provide and assure safely managed drinking water to those living in water-stressed regions.

Climate Resilience and Disaster Risk Preparedness and Response

The challenge: Over the last two decades, floods and droughts have affected 3 billion people, with staggering costs in human suffering and economic loss.
Taking action: We advance water resource management solutions and programs to enable vulnerable communities to effectively prepare for, recover from, and adapt to the impacts of climate change. We also support communities impacted by natural disasters with immediate relief.

Circular Economy

The challenge: Up to 12.7 million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean each year, much of that through rivers. Without action, by 2040, plastic leakage into the ocean is expected to nearly triple.
Taking action: We invest in solutions and service delivery models that accelerate the transition toward a circular economy and stem the flow of waste leakage into rivers and oceans.

Economic Empowerment

The challenge: 3.4 billion people around the world are economically vulnerable.
Taking action: We support education, workforce development and entrepreneurship opportunities that foster economic development and enable greater economic inclusion for disadvantaged communities.

Hometown

Importance of Hometown: We are as equally committed to the sustainability of our hometown of Atlanta as we were when the first bottle of Coca‑Cola was made in 1886.
Taking Action: We invest in social and economic programs to create an inclusive and thriving community through youth development, education, economic empowerment, arts and culture and civic engagement.

Our Work in Action

Circular Economy | Clean Currents Coalition

Supported by the Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory at the University of California, Santa Barbara and The Coca‑Cola Foundation, the Clean Currents Coalition brings together a collaborative network of dedicated, passionate problem-solvers to design and pilot new technologies to capture plastic waste in highly polluted rivers and catalyze policy-based, infrastructural, and societal change to reduce plastic in water sources across the world.

Climate Resilience – The Nature Conservancy Water Funds

Protecting the health of the lands around water sources can improve water quality and restore reliable water flows to communities. The Coca‑Cola Foundation supports The Nature Conservancy’s work to establish water funds in Latin America and helps pioneer and scale them on the African continent.

Economic Empowerment – First Generation Scholarships in the US

The Coca‑Cola First Generation Scholarship program supports students in the United States who are the first in their immediate family to attend college. It has provided over $69 million in scholarships over the last 20 years. Currently, over 600 college students are recipients of these scholarships and attend a variety of colleges and universities across the country.

Disaster Preparedness and Relief

The Coca‑Cola Foundation has a history of supporting local communities in times of crisis. It has provided $2 million of funding to the American Red Cross and CARE to support global disaster preparedness and relief efforts in 2023. It has also contributed a total of $1.4 million in 2023 to nonprofits to support relief efforts in response to several specific disasters, including the Turkey-Syria earthquake; Cyclone Gabrielle in New Zealand; and Cyclone Freddy in Malawi and Mozambique.
